Merchandising your Collection and Search Pages just got easier! With version control and scheduling, you can plan, and automate merchandising updates in advance—all while keeping your live pages running smoothly. Say goodbye to last-minute updates and frantic changes, and hello to a streamlined, stress-free workflow.

Why Use Version Control & Scheduling?

  • Plan Ahead with Confidence – Schedule product highlights, promotions, and seasonal updates well in advance, so you’re always ahead of the curve.

  • Seamless Transitions – Ensure a smooth handover from one merchandising version to another without manual intervention.

  • Save Time & Boost Efficiency – Set it and forget it—let your scheduled updates go live automatically while you focus on other business priorities.

How It Works

Version control enables you to maintain multiple versions of a merchandising page and schedule updates without disrupting your current live setup. You can:

  • Create and publish an original version that remains live.

  • Schedule a new version in advance to go live at a specific time and date.

Steps to Schedule a Merchandising Page

Setting Up the Original Version

  1. Create a Page – Set up your merchandising page as usual.

  2. Select the Markets - [applicable for stores with Shopify Markets] Select any or all of the Markets the page should be visible to.

  3. Don’t Set a Schedule – Keep it as a standard live page.

  4. Click Save – The page will now appear in the list in Draft mode until you go into it and click Publish

  5. Go into page and Start Merchandising - Pin products and/or add boosting rules.

  6. Publish the Page – Your merchandising setup is now live.

  7. Check the Preview Tool – Make sure to select the Market on the top left toggle. Review the Preview interface to ensure you're happy with how it is represented on the front end. Note: Draft products can be merchandised beforehand, Draft product just won't be visible on the Preview Tool as this is a 1:1 representation of the front-end.

Creating & Scheduling a New Version

  1. Duplicate or create a similar page – Modify it with upcoming promotions, seasonal updates, or new product placements.

  2. Select the Markets - [applicable for stores with Shopify Markets] Select any or all of the Markets the page should be visible to.

  3. Set a Schedule:

    • Publish Date & Time – When should this new version go live?

  4. Click Save – Your new version remains in Draft mode until the scheduled publish date.

  5. On Publish Date & Time:

    • The new version goes live and replaces the original version.

    • The new version has an unpublish date (if this was setup beforehand)

  6. On Unpublish Date & Time:

    • The scheduled version changes back to Draft.

  7. Check the Preview Tool – Make sure to select the Market on the top left toggle. Review the Preview interface to ensure you're happy with how it is represented on the front end.

Additional Benefits

  • Timezone Support – Set publish and unpublish times in your local timezone for precision scheduling.

  • No Conflicting Versions – Only one version can be live at a time, ensuring a consistent experience for your customers.

  • Full Control Over Merchandising – Make changes with confidence, knowing you can test, preview, and revert versions as needed.

Best Practices & Considerations

  • Use the Preview Tool – Your customers see what’s on the front end, so always double-check the preview even after the publish date & time.

  • Schedule Seasonal & Promotional Updates – Black Friday? New collection drop? Flash sales? Set up merchandising changes in advance and let the system handle the rest.

  • Only One Live Version – This ensures there are no conflicts, maintaining a smooth and professional user experience.

Unpublish Date & Time – (optional) When should it revert to draft?

The original version reverts to Draft automatically.

The original version remains as Draft, ensuring you always have access to past setups.
