What are merged values?

Merge different filter values into one option to provide your user only the options they need, for example, merge values like light blue, dark blue, and sky blue to just Blue.

For collections like /shop-all where there are many products, you can help your shopper navigate by simplifying filter options through merged values. You can group colours to merge similar colours.

  • Colour: blue

    • Shades of blue: ocean blue, navy, denim wash

  • Size: small

    • Size values: S, AU 8, 6-10, US 4

However, you will need to create a separate filter if you wish to further drill down nuances like types of denim wash.

  • Type of denim: denim wash

    • light wash, dark wash

For sizes, the same concept applies. This is an example of how it'll appear on the front end.

As you can see, only one set of sizing is featured as opposed to Size 39, AU 8 and EU 39. Showing all of the possible size options despite being the same, will make the filter option look messy. Keep things simple by using one set of sizing and merging everything else that's similar.

  • Size: Size 39

    • Size values: Size 39,AU 8,EU 39

Steps for setting up merged values

  1. First, Merged Values need to have a field selected.

  2. Complete a sync

  3. Go to Facets. You’ll notice that the Merged field will now appear on the list. Make sure to select the Merged (Exact) field option. This ensures that your merged values settings apply.

  4. Your filter values should now be merged. No additional sync is required. Simply wait up to 5 minutes for it to reflect on the front-end.
